The exhilaration of experiencing a spring-like day in February didn't fool us into thinking we wouldn't get pummeled by some wintery weather in April. Spring unfurling in slow motion is something we've come to expect. It's given us time to cook-up some new event ideas. Our first is doing a Sunday Showcase Concert.

The depth and caliber of musicians in our area is remarkable. While there are plenty of places for them to perform, most venues offering live music have lots of other activities going on that can make enjoying the music challenging.

Unity Hall's Sunday Showcase Concert will provide a space where music is front-and-center and the audience can really listen and enjoy the artists. This concert on Sunday, April 28th from 3-6 pm will feature live sets from several of our favorite regional musicians on our historic theater's Main Stage. Join us for good company and fine music from Stage Road, George Deveny, Brian Mulkerne & John Handzel, and Pandemic Therapy (Rick Kincaid and Terry Schwaner).

Tickets are just $10 for Unity Hall Members and $15 for non-members and are available in advance through Humanitix via the button below, or at the door.

Fans of local acoustic music legend Danny Holmes (formerly of the Holmes and Mancini duo) will be excited to learn he is returning to Central NY on Saturday, May 18 at 8pm!   Now living in Florida, the multi-talented singer/songwriter will perform in the duo, Rose n’ Thorne with his wife, Karen Holmes, an outstanding female vocalist. Audience members can expect a treat when the talented duo performs favorite covers along with Danny’s originals.

Rose n’ Thorne features spot-on harmonies accompanied by intricate, expressive and energetic acoustic guitar, piano, percussion and harmonica.  Karen has opened for artists like Shania Twain and Benny Mardones.  The duo’s covers of Linda Ronstadt, Joni Mitchell and both Nora and Rickie Lee Jones feature Karen’s amazing voice, while Danny brings his great talent to songs by The Beatles, Neil Young, James Taylor and Eric Clapton.  Their eclectic music selections range from Talking Heads, Dave Mason and Bonnie Raitt, to Elvis, Amy Winehouse, and the Little River Band.

Since leaving Central NY, Danny toured across the country performing at colleges and clubs and opened shows for artists including Melissa Manchester, Livingston Taylor, Al Jarreau and Eric Burden.   After a stint in Nashville, Danny and Karen moved to Florida where they took a “short” 15-year hiatus from the music biz.  In 2016, they began performing again and since then have been in high demand from Florida’s The Villages to Ft. Myers, from Bradenton to Winter Haven.  This is an act you won’t want to miss!

Tickets are $20 in advance through Humanitix and locally at Adirondack Cheese Company on Rt. 12 in Barneveld. Tickets the night of the concert, if available will be $20 for Members and $25 for non-members at the Unity Hall box office starting at 7:15pm.

Get a taste of the musical excellence you'll be treated to in this great new video from Danny and Karen.
