AND SPECIAL GUESTS

Join the Mohawk Valley Blues Society for something a little different! An Afternoon Fundraiser of acoustic Delta Blues, at the historic Unity Hall, featuring Colin Aberdeen, Brian Mulkerne and

special guests. Kick back, relax, and enjoy some down-home Blues, while helping out the MVBS rebuilding efforts!

Colin Aberdeen's low-down exuberance makes him a joy to all who play with him and all he plays for. A mainstay in the Syracuse music scene, Colin is a charter member of Los Blancos, The Westcott Jugsuckers, a regular in The Barking Loungers, plus he's one of the region's top solo performers.

Brian Mulkerne is a guitarist and singer-songwriter who has
performed for two decades, both as a solo artist and with the Brian Mulkerne Band. His early-blues project, The Parlor Dogs, with Matt Lomeo and Sean Peters, released an eponymous CD in 2018.His repertoire includes songs by many early blues figures, Rev. Gary Davis, LibbaCotton, Blind Blake, Muddy Waters and others. A Grateful Dead fan, healso covers many of their songs.

 

Colin and Brian will be joined by New York Blues Hall of Fame guitarist extraordinaire George Deveny and the wonderfully talented bassist John Handzel.

Deveny has performed as a member of Dust Devil Band, Blueprints, Homegrown, Tom Healey Band, Slidewinder, the Solid Oak Band, the Al Nathan Band and Brian Mulkerne Bands. He has earned acclaim from internationally renowned blues greats for opening set performances he has done for their concerts.

​

Bassist John Handzel is one of Central New York’s  most experienced practitioners of the instrument. John excels at electric, fretless andupright acoustic bass. He was the bassist for the legendary CNY-based band, Drivin’ Sideways in the 1970s.

 

For the past couple of decades he has been one of the most in-demand bass players in the area, playing with Rebecca Miner, Les Brers, Midnite Mike, The Fabulous Mojos and more!

Unity Hall is proud to share the distinction of having earned People's Choice recognition as one of the region's top venues for live music in the SAMMY'S -

the Syracuse Area Music Awards.

Main Stage events take place in our historic second floor theater. Those not comfortable or confident climbing our stairway are invited to enjoy the hi-definition simulcast on our large flat-panel display in the first floor parlor, which can be easily accessed through the door from the patio adjacent to the parking lot behind the Hall.
