ARM OF THE SEA
RESCHEDULED DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON
UPPER PAVILION, TRENTON TOWN PARK
(All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian)
Where can you see a colorful, giant 12ft high underground creature undulating to music? Right in Barneveld when the Arm-of-the-Sea Puppet Theater performs its visual enchantment at the Trenton Town Park! This imaginative FREE puppetry performance is being brought to town on Sunday, July 9 at 3PM by Unity Hall with support from Stewarts Holiday Match Program.
The Arm-of-the-Sea arts ensemble fuses visual storytelling with live music, contemporary works of mask and puppet theater. The July 9 performance will be of special interest to young and old gardeners. Titled “Dirt”, the performance features music and puppet figures from 12 inches to 12 feet tall. The show reminds earthly residents of all ages how profoundly essential is the ground beneath our feet. The show takes the audience on a journey of discovery into the Great Underneath – revealing the epic alchemy of plants, the fungi’s dance of mutual delight and microbes’ Herculean labors. A one-man orchestra provides live voice-overs and music for every character.
For 35 years, Arm-of-the-Sea’s hybrid performance style has channeled the power of the arts as a force for joy, insight, and community uplift. Their magical performances illuminate relations between humans and the life-support networks of our blue-ocean planet.
This award-winning group tours its original productions to cultural centers, festivals and schools through the Northeast. Currently Arm-of-the-Sea is transforming a former industrial site in Saugerties, NY into the Tidewater Center – a cultural park for Hudson River arts and science projects.
The performance by Arm-of-the-Sea will be held outdoors on a date to be announced soon at the upper pavilion at the Trenton Town Park, 8659 Fish Hatchery Road, Barneveld. Admission is FREE. All children attending must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
