Hipster Musicians “Jack and the Jukebox” in Concert
at Unity Hall on Saturday, July 14, 8pm
“Our Common Roots” to Open the Show
Come out for a night of progressive “hipster” music when Jack and the Jukebox takes the stage at Unity Hall’s Landecker Auditorium on Saturday, July 14 at 8pm. This local band comprised of three talented, iconoclast musicians offers a unique sound that has a devoted following among fans in our area.
Some call Jack and the Jukebox’s original music Art Rock with a beat; some call it edgy Neoclassical with a romantic patina of Cabaret. Some hear a distant tincture of old Genesis, Pink Floyd, with a dash of Jeff Buckley and a sprinkle of Procol Harum and Steely Dan. Yes, even Velvet Underground. But the bulk of their music is purely Jack and the Jukebox. With impeccable Hipster credentials their original music draws Millennials, Xers, and even the Boomers with equal devotion. The band is comprised of co-writers and performers: Spencer Colucy (Vocals, Bass), Timothy B. Parker (Piano, Congas) and Aaron Mayatt (Drums, Percussion).
“Our Common Roots” will open the evening for Jack and the Jukebox. Unlike their name, the foundation of this band is born of an eclectic collection of very different voices. Each individual’s style has found its place in creating a truly unique, but somehow familiar sound, which throws neon psychedelic lights through the warm glow of a more classic folky-style rock music. Much like the circus from which they draw inspiration for their first album, each member stars in their own act, with their own flare, all housed under the big top tent that is Our Common Roots. The band is comprised of Ryan Flynn (Guitar and Vocals), Brian Lucenti (Vocals), and Andy Soroka (Guitar).
Admission is $12 for the General Public/$10 for Unity Hall Foundation members. Doors open at 7:30pm and the show begins at 8pm. Tickets are available at http://www.unityhall.com/tickets.htmland locally at the Adirondack Cheese Company, 8190 NY-12, Barneveld, NY.
